Last Friday, the BW NICE of Monroe County hosted it’s 3rd Annual Red Shoes Luncheon at the Camelback Resort. BW NICE was created to provide women with a forum for business, networking, and charitable outreach. At all of their meetings and events , they help women gain meaningful business connections, learn new ways to succeed, and find reinforcement for positive living. The heart and foundation of the Red Shoe Luncheon is to celebrate strong women in business and to help put an end to domestic violence and sexual assault through the funds they raise which benefit their charity partner, Women’s Resources of Monroe County.

The event began with ladies enjoying networking, shopping and bidding on the silent auction. Elisa Chase was the perfect choice to be the master of ceremonies with her charm, quick-wit and professionalism. The President of the Monroe chapter, Michelle Maxwell-Dodoo, greeted and introduced everyone to the founder and President of BW NICE LLC, Diane Simovich. Diane encouraged the attendees to continue their mission of building a national network of chapters, bringing women together for a common cause, and establishing avenues that focus on and bring awareness to domestic violence. Lauren Petersen reminded the women of the importance of the work that they are doing, and Marissa Emerizy shared her brave battle and triumph over sexual abuse growing up. Her courage and willingness to share her testimony touched everyone in the room..truly a powerful moment. Robin Smith inspired the audience with her singing while Fusia Dance Center and Nancy and Spencer Reed entertained with dance and jazz music.

There were five finalists that were considered for the Red Shoe Business Award…CONGRATULATIONS to them all! And we are so happy for the 2019 Red Shoe Business Woman of the Year Sonia Tirella. Sister Chat Radio’s Sarah Smith Katz was the auctioneer for the Tricky Tray which again was to help raise funds for the Women’s Resource Center.

Participating Sponsors and Vendors

More than a dozen merchant vendors and many more sponsors from all over Monroe County came to support the benefit at Camelback Resort in the Pocono Mountains. Thousands of dollars were raised at The Red Shoe Luncheon which will support the kind of transformation that can only happen at the Women’s Resource Center. The Women’s Resource Center offers an opportunity for real and lasting change to each and every person who comes through their doors.
